Happy to hear from you Adam JK! It's reassuring to hear that you don't have a tidy lesson from your sabbatical. So often it's not about needing to learn new lessons but relearning the old, and to nurture the selves we've been before but forgotten about.

Listen, I didn’t open my email in enough time to get a calendar, and that’s sad but it’s also ok. I love your work and I say a break is great. I took a break from Instagram 3 months ago and decided to never get back on again. Now I just read newsletters I subscribe to! Take care!

Lovely to read your post and man oh man this is one of the nicest comments section I’ve ever seen 😊

THIS PART i knew the comment section would be special, as it often is on instagram. this is what i wanted most of all. of course i did also get many kind emails back, but now that we can post comments i hope we can all benefit from each others’ words and experience. in the future i’ll try to be more intentional about using this section... creative prompts? idk. we’ll find out together- which is exciting to me!

Your email made me smile. I didn’t need a calendar but I donated to the dog park and I hope that makes you smile. Happy new year 🩵

thank you SO MUCH! the dog park is so old that many locals believe it’s city run. a very small group of donors basically foots the bill for water and a lease from the state... i learned all this in june and have been trying to help since. that donation website is brand new! 😉

I love you! I’m proud of you!

The you that was is no more. The you that is will fade. The you that will be is delicious! Taste and see wisdom is the key ❤️

Thank you for sharing. For your honesty, for your light, for your truth, your tiny calendars (even though they sold out before I got around to checking my e-mail...arrgh!), for your love of the dog park, for everything you are and everything you share. Much appreciated. :-)

Thank you Adam.

Your honesty and wit have been missed. I’d like to buy a calendar (great you did them for friends - shows you haven’t given up your creativity, just had a break to ‘regroup’!).

However, I live in London, UK - so I’d pay postage - how much? I also realise you’ve probably sold them all now … :o(

ANYWAY - thanks again, take care of yourself and keep well.

Love, Annie.

So happy that you continue to show up as who you are and cultivate the idea that it's okay not just to slow down, but also to just not be a person on the internet sometimes. Happy new year. I am glad I get to witness your vulnerability as an artist and as a person. Especially because I also have a few unopened emails right now. <3

Happy new year Adam! A lot of this felt close to home (for me I stepped down a role at work and did less, and somehow found I did so much more in every other part of my life), and really, I'm just glad to see this is how it made you feel.

"But have I even transformed, or am I just more myself?" BUT ALSO THIS. I've read this over a few times. It's stuck with me. Here's to us, and may this year continue that feeling.

this note was such a gift, thank you 💛 my "too fucking bad, life is corny and cringe!" gift back to YOU is the quote "in the space between chaos and shape there was another chance" by jeanette winterson. and also the fact that i keep accidentally reading "in 2024 ... we're finding fun a little horny" and nodding to myself, pausing, catching my mistake, and lol-ing. MWAH!
